SS Pro V4 - Review

This application is well worth the money. Everything works perfectly, and the interface is ridiculously easy and intuitive. I use it to control my telescopes along with a SkyFi adapter. I quickly locked onto Comet Lovejoy and started taking excellent images. Highly recommended!

SkySafari Pro

Between both the OS X and iOS versions this is a fantastic set of tools for learning and viewing the night sky. I use the OS X version for planning and the iOS version to control my Celestron AVX mount using SkyQ Link. Works amazing well. The only thing missing is moving your observations between the two applications, but I have no doubt that’s in the works along with WiFi control of mounts from OS X. Additionally, being able to add your own equipment is a bonus and provides a nice sense of what your field of view will be when you finally have clear skies to enjoy. Well worth the money.

Nothing better for the Mac

Tho not exactly a hard core app like the venerable MegaStar, it’s a fantastic tool for the serious and the novice.

Ameteur Astronomer

Had this app already on iphone and was impressed with the performance and stunning graphics. Its even better on the Macbook Pro! Am using when in the field and totally pleased with the performance. Excellent app and value!….

Amateur Astronomer, Big Dog Observatory

Used previous version of this app on iPhone and iPad for control of scope. Always reliable, beautiful graphics, works perfectly with wired and wireless control. I use it every day/night. Easy to use, holds onto the chart I want. Just one problem: it can’t get rid of the clouds !!

By far the best astronomy app, both OSX and iOS

SkySafari has been my one and only astro app for years. For Mac OSX, it is by far the best value for dollar. It blows other apps, costing literally hundreds of dollars more, out of the water. It has a beautiful and functional interface. The OSX and iOS versions complement each other well. As another reviewer mentioned, I use the OSX version for planning and post observation information. I use the iOs version with their SkyFi WiFi module and my iPad to control my goto Celestron scope. The combination allows quick movements to new objects, so we spend a lot more time looking instead of searching. Evenings are much more productive. The OSX version can also control the scope, but a laptop is a bit more cumbersome than an iPad. Not the app’s problem! But the best part is the unsurpassed support by the Simulation Curriculum staff. They are very active in responding to problems and are continually updating and improving the program. Their regular updates are partly the reason reviews for the current version are sparse. I heartily recommend this leader, par excellence, of astronomy apps.

Good performer, great price, excellent support

Ive been using SkySafari Plus on my Mac and various flavors of it on my iPhone for a year now. It does everything I need for armchair astronomy and scope control while visual observing, and at a fraction of the price of other contenders. Ive had several interactions with the tech support people on this produce, and theyve been uniformly friendly, helpful, and fast.

I love it.

I just bought this app, i havent even scratched the surface of all the options and things to see, but with in 10 minutes i was able to do exactly what i hoped it would allow me to see, perfect. If you love space and want to be able to see an event in space from any object, location or time then this is the app, I dont usually spend $60 on an app, but this is definitly a pro tool. Thanks

Good software bad customer service

Purchased software and within six weeks a new version came out and no free or reduced cost upgrade. Their customer service said that I missed their one month window to which I was not notified about. I was told that “loyal” customers were given the opertunity to upgrade.
